Email Setup – POP3 / Outlook
Outlook (Using POP3)
This guide provides instructions for configuring Outlook to access your email account via IMAP.
- Start Outlook and select “Account Settings…” from the Tools menu. (If this is the first time you’ve started Outlook, it will automatically start the new account wizard – skip to the next step.)
- On the Account Settings window, click on the “New” button.
- On the “Add New E-mail Account” window, simply put a checkmark in the box labeled: “Manually configure server settings or additional server types” at the bottom. Then click “Next”.
- On this window, Select “Internet Email” and then click on “Next”.
- Enter your details as in the following screenshot, substituting your domain name anywhere it says “yourdomain.com” and your e-mail account name anywhere it says “jsmith”
- Account Type: POP3
- Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomainname.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.yourdomainname.com
- User Name: Full Email Address, e.g. yourname@yourdomainname.com
- Password: As provided
- Click on the “More Settings” button.
- On the More Settings window, click on the “Outgoing Server” tab
- On the “Outgoing Server” tab put a check mark in the box labeled: “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”.
- Make sure to select “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.
- When finished, click on the “Advanced” tab.
- On the Advanced tab, update the following settings:
- Incoming server (POP3): 110
- This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL): None / Off
- Outgoing server (SMTP): 30
- This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL): None / Off
- When you’ve made the changes listed above, click the OK button.
- Once back on the main Internet E-Mail Settings screen, click the “Test Account Settings…” button.
- If the test is successful you should see a window similar to the one below. Make sure all of the tests succeed, if any of them fail, please go over the steps above and make sure no mistakes were made.If everything check’s out then close this window by clicking on the “Close” button.
- Click the “Next” and then “Finish” button to complete the setup process.
